Develop A Patent Strategy To Achieve Business Purposes

Patent strategy is critical to the success of pharmaceutical companies. However, it has been very challenging to create a proper patent strategy serving both the short-term and the long-term objectives of antibody drug development, which ultimately should lead to achievement of business purposes. In addition, from project initiation to product finalization, it has been both complicated and costly to identify potential patent infringement risks, it has been even more difficult to adjust the product development decisions accordingly, to keep such risks under control.
In this Webinar, using the development of anti-TNFα antibodies as an example, we will try to demonstrate various tools and methods that could be employed and combined to create a flexible patent strategy for achieving business purposes.

Speaker: Dr. Zheng Zhang
Prior to founding TiPLab, Dr. Zhang worked as an IP specialist at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (WSGR). Before that, she was a patent attorney and the biotech group leader of CCPIT. Dr. Zhang has extensive experience practicing before the Chinese Intellectual Property Office, the Patent Reexamination Board, and the Chinese courts, including the Supreme Court. Dr. Zhang has helped clients from both biotech and pharmaceutical industries discover, patent, and effectively protect their innovations, which often involve a combination of various technologies, such as molecular biology, stem cell, immunology, protein engineering, molecular diagnostics, and adapted therapy, etc. Dr. Zhang has a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences from Tsinghua University. She then obtained her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from University of Zurich. Dr. Zhang also holds a M.Sc. degree in Intellectual Property from ETH Zurich.
